Man jumps into display of China’s Terracotta Army
XI"AN-A 30-year-old man has been detained after jumping into a pit containing the world-renowned Terracotta Army in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, causing damage to two ancient clay warriors, local authorities reported on May 31.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on May 30 at the No. 3 pit of the Terracotta Warriors museum. The man, identified by his surname Sun, climbed over guardrails and a protective net before leaping into the pit. He proceeded to push and pull several of the life-sized relics, resulting in damage to two armored warriors.
According to a statement from the Lintong branch of the Xi’an Bureau of Public Security, Sun has been placed under police control. Preliminary investigations indicate that he suffers from a mental disorder. The case is currently under further investigation.
